She was cleaning her finger nails, when she removed some skin from the roots (from under the nail), about a month ago, and it really hurts her, and there doesn't seem as a medicine that can help her out of the pain, the place where she removed the skin is now black, and the finger nail, kinda got into the skin.. Help?
BTW. She's 78 Years. My Grandma was Cleaning her Finger Nails, She Removed Skin from the roots, Help? She's In Pain?
B/c of her age and the way you describe the skin as black, you need to take her to the doctor right away.
Her circulation in her fingers is not like that of a 30 year olds..its diminished.
Please take her to the doctor before the infections spreads.. this is dangerous.
P.s. give her some Motrin if it does not disrupt any of her other meds and call her regular doctorMy Grandma was Cleaning her Finger Nails, She Removed Skin from the roots, Help? She's In Pain?
After a MONTH! Take her to see a doctor.
If no doctor is available... Make a mild solution of warm water and old Fashioned Lysol ... about a tablespoon to a cup. Soak the finger in the solution.
Maybe she should go to the doctor. The black part is probably dried blood. It may be infected (since it happened a month ago), and might be harboring bacteria. Get it checked out by a doc.
go to a doctor and see if they can pull up the nail and then give some pain medication but it is most likely that the nail will fall off and regrow that wat happened to friend =0 b better
What has the doctor said to put on it? Neosporin?? Keep it clean as possible for sure...the part about it turning black doens't sound very nice at all. I'd contact her Dr. or a dermatologist to ask what to do.
Take her to the DR.!!! Could be an infection or an ingrown nail which could both turn out very bad even deadly (not likely but could)
Take her to the doctor. The black skin sounds like it's gone necrotic, and she should be seen by a doctor.
its even difficult for us here in Y!A to solve ur problem. I suggest u to consult any doctor becoz her skin may possibly be infected by bacteria..
maybe she should go see a doctor about it. I'm sure they can give her some medicine to help it.

What causes ridges in finger nails?
i've only noticed them reciently, but have no idea how long they've been there.
i've had depression, and am on citlopram, can this have an effect? What causes ridges in finger nails?
maybe this might help
http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/ate/skinandha鈥?/a>What causes ridges in finger nails?
Sometimes it is linked with some conditions like tuberous scelorosis. but im not saying you have this .
Do you have psoriasis? This can cause ridges and pitting in the nails
Best wishes
The ridges are caused by a lack of certain minerals in the diet. Sometimes age is the cause, and perhaps in your case medication. There are products you can buy to help. Try Healthspan - Hair and Nails.
Could be the pills but doubtful. Sometimes it's down to age. I've got 'em on my nails but then I'm no spring chicken!

Why would a man paint his finger nails?
i was in a restaraunt this morning and seen a man with blue finger nails .Why would a man paint his finger nails?
because he has psychological issuesWhy would a man paint his finger nails?
Without consideration of the subculture (hair, makeup, mode of dress) or vocation (BDSM rope top), we can't draw conclusions about the mental health of a random individual any more than we can draw the same from hair color alone.
I knew a straight guy (a bit metro) that painted his nails black during football season in support of the Raiders.
I dont know? how about you tell me why lol.
If they are gay then it is fine^_^
if he was either gay or goth (black fingernails)
Maybe his gf is trying to become a Estethician and she needs practice..?? Idk maybe he's gay.. Maybe it was part of a costume he wore to a party last night..
Maybe he feels nice using it or he might be gay, a goth or is metrosexual. But not all guys who paint their fingers nails are gay.
To look pretty...
Curiosity?
not all guys who paint their fingers nails are gay. i have an industrial goth friend who paints his fingers silver, green, and blue ( fingernails mind you not toes) and it's just a fashion statement. I have a preppy friend who let the girl he liked paint his toes bright red and he walked around for week like that and he wore sandals. Men do it for different reasons. Boys are weird.
To get your attention. It worked!

How to apply fake finger and toe nails?
i bought fake finger and toe nails for my graduation. how should i apply them and make them last for a long time? How to apply fake finger and toe nails?
rough up your nail a little bit with a nail file, this will help the glue adhere to your natural nail better. make sure that all of your natural nails are cut short. before you even put any glue on your nails make sure the fake ones fit right. you can use a nail file to fix that, i've never had luck at it, but that's what i'm told you should do. i would start on your toes first. then move on to your fingers. then i would do my pinkies and ring fingers before i did any other ones.
hope this helps. How to apply fake finger and toe nails?
Well if they're stick on, be careful. If they have glue, just put them on with a fair amount on glue, and hope for the best.
=D
you should put some of the liquid squeeze glue on the nail first and then just a little on the real toenail and nail and press down for 15 seconds do this for all and make sure it isnt messy keep it clean of the glueeye look cream blush

Why is it that nailpolish on my finger nails doesn't last a day but on my toe nails they are fine?
I always have color on my toe nails. The paint rarely chips. When I paint my fingernails, the paint peels or chips off so easily
WHY?
it irriates meWhy is it that nailpolish on my finger nails doesn't last a day but on my toe nails they are fine?
Presumably your fingernails are more exposed to the elements (e.g. bumps, scratches, use in general). My toenail polish stays on for a month easily, and my fingernail polish typically doesn't last that long. Below are some tips for longer wear:
Make sure your polish is not old. Do not thin older polish--throw it away.
Use a base coat (suggest Merle Norman)
Use two coats of colored polish, if desired.
Use a top coat (suggest Poshe)Why is it that nailpolish on my finger nails doesn't last a day but on my toe nails they are fine?
HOWDY!!! Lakisha 3,
I am a male so I don't use nail polish but, maybe this will help. Do you wash you hands often, work with you hands a lot, and may be typing on the PC. I just noticed that my finger nails touch the keys a lot. I don't know if I am right or not but You might think about those things and maybe it will help you. GOOD LUCK!!!
STAY SAFE!!!
Bulldog
Use ur fingers more then ur toes
Because you do alot of things wiht ur hands, but you dont do anything with ur feet but walk.
because you use your hands all the time but your toenails have little exposure to things that would chip them
I know, me, too.
It's just one of those unanswerable questions in life. I guess it would have to be because your hands are exposed to a lot more than your feet -- writing, gesturing, weather, typing, etc. But it's the same in the summer when you've got your flip-flops on... the pedi still lasts longer. I guess there are some mysteries the universe just won't give us the answers to.
It's because you are using your hands constantly throughout the day, and essentially washing them several times a day. Your toes however, usually sit in your shoes and don't do a heck of a lot regarding movement and use, and you only wash them maybe once or twice a day.
because toes are more protected than the finger nails
you are constantly using your hands, try using a base coat and a clear top coat it not only adds shine but helps to protect the color.
because all day your nails are exposed to everything..but on your toes they are usually covered by socks, shoes, etc

Do you like bright finger nails?
I painted mine bright blue.
I'm fair skinned, do you think it would look funny? What is the best color for me?Do you like bright finger nails?
fair skinned and dark skinned pull off colors extreamly well. go with it.Do you like bright finger nails?
Yeah, I love bright colored nails. I like bright blue on pale people, I paint my nails it all the time and I'm pale. my nails are currently bright yellow with back tips. I also like neon orange and pink. I think blue would look just fine on you, plus even better if it's the color of you eyes. Just, don't wear a pale color, cause it will blend in with your skin and thats boring.
=)
i dunno i paint my nails any color i like and dont worry about how it looks because bright colors are fun and i bet any color would look great! have fun with your nails, try different things, like painting each nail a different color !! :D :D
i'm not much for bright fingernails.i usually just paint mine clear.but i like bright colors on my toenails.during the summer,i paint them hot pink with orange polka dots, and light pink with brown polka dots.

Whats a fast way to grow finger nails?
i want to start growing them longerWhats a fast way to grow finger nails?
wait until they grow don't cut them and try not to break them.Whats a fast way to grow finger nails?
1. Healthy lifestyle/diet.
2. Sally Hansens has a pretty good nail growth green tea formula for 5 dollars, it helps ur nails grow faster.
3. Once a week, push ur cuticles back and remove them, then trim ur nails just a little bit, the very top of it, then file the nails all around, creating a desired shape of course, apply a good hand lotion after doing all of this.
Step 1 Take one garlic oil gel capsule and gently hold squeeze one side.
Step 2 Take a push pin and prick the end of the gel capsule, allowing the garlic to ooze out a little.
Step 3 Place a drop on each finger and rub onto entire nail bed. Let sit for 5 minutes and wash hands with warm water and gentle soap. Do this once a night.
put nail polish on them [any]
buy the nail polish that grows them
rub a tomato on them
rub a garlic on them and dig your nails into it
don't bite them
cover them with gloves
soak them in warm water
rub aloe vera on them
dig them into a pepper
target has this sally hansen stuff that works. its in nail polish/make-up aisle.
its like a nail polish stuff that you put on like everyday it makes nails grow faster and stronger so they dont break so easily.
Sally Hansen and vitamins I think it's vitamin e also good for your hair. Should be in gel type brownish caplets also prenatal vitamins. WIll not harm you but will make ur hair and nail grow faster.
Buy fake ones and when they grow long enough take the fake ones off and you will have long nails
Eat meat and dairy. My nails and hair grow way to fast lol I have to trim my nails almost everyday.
Tap your fingers, it stimulates nail growth..seriously!
Don't bite them, try getting some vitamins as my mom said
Good Luck
develop a lot of patience.
Eat jello
Aside from waiting like normal...get stick-ons.
file them, dont clip them.
eat toenails
dont trim them.
just don't cut them ??

My Grandma was Cleaning her Finger Nails, She Removed Skin from the roots, Help? She's In Pain?

What are these vertical lines on my finger and toe nails?
On my finger and toe nails, there are these vertical lines on all of them and I've noticed them about 2 years ago and researched them then but I only found that horizontal lines mean some sort of defficiency so what do vertical lines on my nails mean? And how do I get rid of them? What are these vertical lines on my finger and toe nails?
By vertical do you mean from the tip to the cuticle as oppoosed to across the width?
That's just the shape of fingernails, they grow in kinda waves, so they are more like half a 50 sided shape than they are half a circle. Girls file their nails and buff them to make them look smooth, if it's concerning you borrow your mum, sister, girlfriend or wife's nail stuff and fix it. I sometimes do. Makes your hands feel cleaner. What are these vertical lines on my finger and toe nails?
do you mean nail ridges?? you can get nail fillers for that
You get lines on your nails for a few reasons, one is age, the older you get, your nails start to change, if you are say 30+, buy a buffer from the chemist and buff your nails a couple of times a week, do not over buff them, to the stage where your nails are burning as this indicates buffing the nail too much and making it thin.
Another reason people get vertical lines can be due to illness, I don't know if you have ever been in hospital or watched a programme where they check the nails before surgery etc, this is because your nails tell someone a lot.
Have a look at the following website, and see if this helps you decide whether it is age or something else. It is more than likely an age thing.
http://www.althealth.co.uk/help_and_advi鈥?/a>
All the best.
I've also been trying to figure it out. If it's not white or any weird colour, then it is normal as these come with age.
Is it a white line? Anything that's white usally means you have a lack in calcium. I also have found this one site, where it indicates that it could be a nervous sytem disorder... not sure if that's true. It can also be caused by a trauma to the nails, and white lines also indicates some sort of bruise on the nails oppose to on the skin (from what I've heard... actually saw it somewhere while I was searching questions on here).
Not too sure exactly how to get rid of it (because I'm currently trying to find a way), but some people claim that when they consume more calcium (such as drinking milk) it will make it disappear.
That depends on the color of the lines and whether they are just lines or ridges. Another thing to look at would be the angle between the nail bed and skin and the shape of the nail and fingers. Could be a deficiency, trauma (common), stress, or some other underlying problem. There's not enough information to make a determination.
yeah they r just the natural ridges in ur nail, if it bothers u, get a buffing kit, but only buff them a little little bit, otherwise it is noticeable when they r growing further along. it also takes off a protective layer of your nail, and u will have to keep doing it once a week or so to keep up with it, and u dont want to wear your nails thin, cuz then they will break and get all snaggly n girls really dont like that. girls do like guys with nice hands though, so go for it, but dont over do it!

What happens when you get a ingrown nail on your big foot finger?
are you talking about your big toe on your foot? both of mine are ingrown, they just grow that way, and it's uncomfortable. you have to pull the skin around your toenail back a little bit and clip it inwards, because letting the nail grow straight up is too far in to your skinWhat happens when you get a ingrown nail on your big foot finger?

I totally smashed me finger and the cut nail bed in half. What will a DR do for it if I go?
The middle portion of my nail is gone and it won't stop bleeding. It happened over 12 hours ago...I totally smashed me finger and the cut nail bed in half. What will a DR do for it if I go?
I dont know what a doctor would give you but this has happened to me once after i got my finger jammed by a door and half the nail came off to where i could see the pink from under my nail. All i did was put any kind of nail hardining substance on it as well as a nail biting solution ( I bite lol) and i just made sure that during the day id wear a band aide and when i slept id take it off so it could breathe. For me, it took a long time, many months but it will grow back you just have to be patient.I totally smashed me finger and the cut nail bed in half. What will a DR do for it if I go?
there's a good possibility that the doctor will remove your entire nail. If he does that then he'll numb your finger using a digit anesthesia he'll then cut the nail off completely after your finger is completely numb of course, He'll then apply sodium nitrate on it.. warning it is BLACK wrap it and then send you on your way with direction to clean it once a day it Should grow back in 6 months
That totally happened to me!!! Except it happened on my toe. The DR. won't really do anything. Here's what I did. Put hydrogen peroxide on it, and wrap it in some clean cloth.

Do nail fungal infections (really bad ones) cause severe blistering around the nail and down the finger?
I know I have a fungal infections on 4 of my nails from wearing artificial nails, and it's getting worse, but is it normal to have blisters (lots of tiny water filled ones) all up and down your fingers? I went to the doc and she presecibed me Lamisil, and an antibiotic, however, i'm thinking I may have come in contact with poison ivy, and that's what the blisters are? I don't know. Is the blistering normal with really bad nail infections?Do nail fungal infections (really bad ones) cause severe blistering around the nail and down the finger?
Take the medications prescribed by your doctor. stay away from wearing artificial nails until after it clears up. see a skin doctor about the poison ivy and ask what's the cause of the blisters.Do nail fungal infections (really bad ones) cause severe blistering around the nail and down the finger?

You might be lacking calcium. It won't make your fingernails stronger, but it'll ease the ridges.
My guess would be dry nails and a vitamin deficiency.

It is true that finger nails grow a little even after death?
Recent discoveries says that is incorrect. We have the illusion that finger nails and hair grow even after death but that's due to the fact that the skin dries and shrinks. It is true that finger nails grow a little even after death?
I believe not. I saw this documentary on the History channel about vampires and The sorry fact of the matter is that we dehydrate after dying. Our flesh dries and, in so doing, pulls away from nails (and hair). Thus, though the nail on our big toe, for example, remains the same length as before, the toe it is seated upon shrinks. Because we are accustomed to nails and hair /growing/, not hands, feet, and heads /shrinking/, we perceive this change as an increase in one rather than a decline in the otherIt is true that finger nails grow a little even after death?
It's actually not true, but the skin of your hands retracts and shrivels, pulling away from your finger nails which makes your nails look longer.
They don't really grow. When you die everything stops. The skin shrinks and gets tighter leaving more fingernail exposed, so it LOOKS like it grew but only more nail is sticking out.

How can I stop myself from biting my finger nails?
they have bitter nail polish for that at the drug storeHow can I stop myself from biting my finger nails?

i have the same prob!! i think its a product u can buy ,you put it on ur fingers and i think it smells so bad u cant eat em then!!!! u knew tho that ppl who eat their fingernails have better immune system cause they eat with the nails and different microbes in small amounts that finally your body get used to them!! Tell yourself that you are in control of your own body. Right!? do you place your hands on a hot stove? of course not because you know it will have a negative effect. But it shows that you can control your movements. 'talking' yourself out of a mental habit or crutch like that is mostly about will power and resolve. Just realize that it is YOUR body...and it IS going to do what you tell it to!
I used to bite my nails too. i have tried all the gross nail polish and when I was younger my mom put tabasco sauce on them. None of this worked for me. It just has to be something you make up in your mind to do. I never thought I could until something happened to me and that was it. I don't want to share it with everyone here because it was very personal. I also used to try wearing fake nails until mine grew out alot. This worked for a while for me. Once I saw how great my real nails looked I stopped for a while.
buy a nice pair of pretty gloves and wear them all the time so there is a barrier between you and your nails
I have a friend that has a problem with biting her fingernails as well. The other day she bought a particular nail polish that has a certain taste to it when you are about to bite your fingernails. It helped her alot too. I dont know the brand but there are things like that, that could prevent you to do so! =]
fake nails until they grow out and are not ragged anymore
i broke my daughter by putting something she did not on her fingernails....or put arcylic or have them professionally done, they look good and nice so maybe that will break u thats what broke me,now i have long nails of my own..
Dip them in poison, That should do it
Wipe your bum with really really really really thin toilet paper.
TFTP
Cut your fingers off at the 2nd knuckle with a band saw, that should solve the problem. No need to thank me.
spray deoderant on them, then when you bite you go ECHHH, that's what my cousin did, and he doesn't bite at all anymore
dip your fingers in hot sauce. Good luck.
Chew gum
dip them in dog ---- first.......
chop off fingers or
eat a carrot or
put somthing to squeeze in your hand
Every time you bite your fingernails is a day that you can not take a shower.

getting a nice manicure helps b/c you won't want to ruin it, chewing gum, there is a no bite nail polish they make, and rewarding yourself for every day you DON'T bite.
Cutting off the first joint on each finger should permanently solve your problem.
Keep poop on them.

I wanna know how to grow out my finger nails....?
I have weak, bending nails.. I need to grow them out for my job, ya know so I will look professional. No I aint a hooker. I work in an office. I cant use fake nails. They are not for me. Is there some sort of polish to put on them? HELPI wanna know how to grow out my finger nails....?
Soak your nail in sudsy water, push you cuticles back and paint your nails with a hardener polish at least every 3 days. DO NOT BITE THEM.I wanna know how to grow out my finger nails....?
try silk nail hardener from ur local avon rep,it worked for me
You are exactly who fake nails are made for. Smarten up and buy some.
It's easier to type with normal nails. Keep them short and polished and you'll look professional at any job except the hooker thing.
Get a good clear strengthing polish. Make sure you are getting enough calcium in your diet, a good multi vitamin can help.
UM THERES A NAIL POLISH THAT MAKE YOUR NAIL GROW USE THAT.
the sally hansen range is GREAT
and regular manicures do help too
Make sure that you get enough Calcium. And if your food is not providing enough, get and take some supplements. Then just let Nature do the rest.
And by the way, fake fingernails are about the most ugly thing that has ever been invented by the cosmetics industry. I cannot understand why so many women use them.

Can you help me heal my veeery damaged finger nails??
I have have had acrylic nail on and off for like 10 years. For anyone who's been there I don't need to tell you what it's done to my nails. They are very weak and peel and crack easily. I want to start to heal my nails and get them to grow healthy now. What products could I use or are there any good tips to make them grow?? Oh and cost is a bit of an issue so nothing too pricey please. Can you help me heal my veeery damaged finger nails??
I am assuming that you used to go to a chop shop to have your nails done. But, I could be wrong. I say that because if people would spend the extra money and went somewhere that has good, experienced, and highly skilled techs, their nails would not be in awful condition when they were removed. But, too late for that now. I just wish people would wake up and smell the coffee.
Anyway, you can use things like cuticle oil on your nails 2-3 times a day - every day. This will help to moisturize your nails and make them healthier. It will take some time, but you will start to see the results within just a few weeks. Also, make sure that you use a moisturizing hand lotion after every time you wash your hands, or get them wet. Also, use cotton lined rubber gloves when your hands will be exposed to water, and/or household hemicals for a prolonged period such as when cleaning or doing dishes. Water is one of natures most damaging chemicals, and it will ruin your nails after repeated, prolonged exposure to either water itself, or household chemicals. Even nail polish remover is not good when overused, Limit its use to once a week, or less. Nail polish will also damage your nails with overuse. Also, these polishes which supposedly contain things like vitamins, and other things that the company claims will help your nails to grow? Well, they don't work either. If the nails is thin and brittle, you cannot put something on top of it and expect it to get stronger. It just doesn't work that way. The key is to take care of the new nail which is growing out, and help that achieve its maximum health, and that is what will give you strong and healthy looking nails.
Nail strengtheners will work OK, but only for a short time. Avoid overuse of them. Most contain formaldehyde which will dry out your nails over time. Don't listen t people who may suggest taking, or eating gelatin. That will not work to strengthen your nails, nor does it make them grow. It is a myth. But many people still think its true. You can use Biotin as a natural supplement. This is a nutrient which has been shown in many studies to increase the thickness of nails by an average of 20% over the course of about 4-6 months. Pre-natal vitamins are also said to work well, but I have never used them so I cannot vouch for their effectiveness. If you don't have cuticle oil, then regular vegetable oil works just as well. Vitamin E often helps as well.
No matter what, your nails are going to take a while to get back to normal. It will not happen overnight, and there is no magic cure for this.
If you ever get your nails done again, go to a good salon with great techs. Its well worth the extra cost. Can you help me heal my veeery damaged finger nails??

Please help. =)How do you kick a bad habit of nail biting, cracking fingers, or skin chewing?
The excerpt is from source below:
Onychophagia - (nail biting)
Nail biting is the habit of biting one's fingernails or toenails during periods of nervousness, stress, hunger, or boredom [1]. It can also be a sign of mental or emotional disorder. The clinical name for nail biting is chronic onychophagia.
It occurs in:[citation needed]
28% to 33% of children ages 7-10 years old,
44% of adolescents,
19% to 29% of young adults and
5% of older adults
It is more common in young males
Negative side-effects
Biting the nails can result in the transportation of germs that are buried under the surface of the nail into the mouth. In fact, nail salons use tools that potentially affect a human in a similar way. ';If [nail tools, such as files] are used on different people, these tools may spread nail fungi, staph bacteria or viruses,'; warns Rick Lopes, a spokesperson for the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.[citation needed] Thus, one can see that many pathogens have the ability to ';live'; inside of a nail, and because of this biting the nails can potentially cause health issues.
A compulsive nail biter could also be tempted to bite not only the nail, but also the surrounding skin and cuticle, possibly breaking skin. Broken skin is susceptible to microbial and viral infections. These pathogens can be spread between the fingers and toes via the mouth. A normal, healthy (nail biting) person has a very low risk of suffering from infections.
Nail biting also has the negative side effect of restraining the use of the hands. A compulsive nailbiter can be restricted in their ability to work (i.e. writing, typing, drawing, playing stringed instruments, driving) because of the damage done to the nail or surrounding skin and/or anxiety in regards to the appearance of their nails. However, non nailbiters often find they must cut their nails to a very short length to play stringed instruments or the piano, as nails inhibit the playing of such instruments.
A long-time habit of nailbiting may have detrimental effects on the substantia adamantinea of the front teeth, promoting caries in these areas.
Extreme nailbiting is considered to be a form of self-mutilation. Chronic nailbiters will bite their nails so much so that it borderlines masochism. Fingertips will become overly sensitive to pain, usually at the place the skin meets the edge of the nail. If the nail has been bit short enough, salty foods (such as potato chips and pickles) can get between the skin and nail and cause pain and hypersensitivity.
Nail biting is, according to Freudian theory, a symptom of oral fixation.
[edit] Treatment
[edit] Behavioural therapy
Some patients have found behavioral therapy to be beneficial on its own or as a complement to medication. The first part of nail biting therapy consists of Habit Reversal Training (HRT), a four part process that seeks to ';unlearn'; the habit of nail biting and possibly replace it with a more constructive habit. In addition to HRT, stimulus control therapy is used to both identify and then eliminate the stimulus that frequently triggers biting urges.[2]
The symptoms have been found to respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
[edit] Medication
Nail biting has been shown to respond well to certain types of medication. The medications used to treat the problem include the newest, most potent anti-depressants. These medications are also used to treat Trichotillomania and OCD and include clomipramine, fluoxetine, sertraline, paroxetine, fluvoxamine, citalopram, escitalopram, nefazodone and venlafaxine. Also, small amounts of the anti-psychotics used to treat schizophrenia such as risperidone, olazapine, quetiapine, ziprasidone, and aripiprazole can be used to augment anti-depressants. It is important to note that the use of anti-psychotics to treat nail biting does not necessarily indicate that the patient is suffering from psychosis. [3]
[edit] Other treatment
Various forms of aversion therapy exists to help people stop biting their nails. These include methods such as coating the nails with a bad-tasting substance (sometimes in the form of a special nail polish, tabasco sauce, or gel deodorant) or wearing a rubber band on their wrist and having friends and family members snap it (or tell the nailbiter to snap it) when they see nailbiting. Replacing the habit of biting nails by the habit of chewing gum works for some people. Some methods (including aforementioned aversion methods) can work by making the biter aware of their actions and finding other things to do. Keeping a record of when one bites may also be helpful in finding the root of the problem.
Some nail biters who undergo orthodontic treatment find that wearing a retainer or a bite plate makes it impossible for them to sever their nails with their teeth. This can have the unintentional side-effect of helping the individual to overcome their nail-biting habit.
Some nail-biters, however, find the effectiveness of all of these remedies to be poor. For them, it may take sheer determination to break the habit. Tactics they may find helpful include making a mental note to stop, promising oneself not to bite, and making it a New Year's resolution, or other such commitment to stop.
Like other nervous habits, nail biting is sometimes a symptom of an emotional problem. In these cases, resolving the underlying problem can help to lessen or eliminate the nail-biting habit. How do you kick a bad habit of nail biting, cracking fingers, or skin chewing?
For the nail biting they sell this stuff in stores that you put on your fingers.

How do you remove finger nail polish off of a computer monitor, a printer, and a keyboard?
I was wondering how do you remove finger nail polish off of a computer monitor, a printer, and a keyboard? My sorry excuse of a brother threw a man tantrum in my room and busted my nail polish. it went all over my computer screen, stick some of my keys on my keyboard, and all over my printer. how do i get all of this off?How do you remove finger nail polish off of a computer monitor, a printer, and a keyboard?
nail polish works best on the monitor and keyboard. as far as the sek, i would test a spot somewhere first. if its your grandmothers, chances are that its not primed like this new wood stuff is. if it doesnt mess it up, go for it. if it does, you can use something called GOO. it is designed to take almost everything off surfaces. you can find it at wal-mart in the car section. or the cleaning supplies. had this happen to me, thanks to kids but the polish remover worked for meHow do you remove finger nail polish off of a computer monitor, a printer, and a keyboard?
Once the machine is off, you should be able to use nail polish remover on the computer, keyboard and monitor. If it starts to smudge the glass, try just scraping with your fingernail instead.
As far as the desk, I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure nail polish remover would ruin the spots. Maybe you could try scraping that too.
NON-Acetone nail polish remover otherwise it would eat up plastic
Well your going to have to either scrape it off or use nail polish remover.Good luck.

Can I put acrylic nail over my broken off finger nail?
Ok so please help! I have worn fake nails
For a long time and a couple weeks ago
I slammed index finger in a door and the bottom half of the nail fell off , but the top is still there hanging on just a little if that makes sense. So my dilemma is that whatever real nail starts to grow out it just breAks off because it is so weak. Should I put acrylic over the skin? I mean I don't
See how
It is ever going to grow out!!Can I put acrylic nail over my broken off finger nail?
give it time i guess and start taking in calcium and proteins to give your nails strenght to grow, i wouldnt put anything on that that nail putting fake nails is really bad cause then your nails cant breathe and make them worstCan I put acrylic nail over my broken off finger nail?
I wouldn't do anything with it for several months. You need to make sure your nail bed is completely healed up, or you could cause infection or even irratation for that matter. Acrylic can be hard enough on the nail. You will need somthing for the acrylic to stick to anyway. I think it is bad news. I would rather you consult your doctor and see if something can be done to help your nail bed become healthy again. If there is a possiblity that it is not permenantly damaged. Good luck.

NEVER AGAIN GET FINGERS IN POO
Why the hell would you have poo on your nails? Use plenty of hot water, soap and a nail brush.
The answer is soap. Or trimming your fingernails. The question, however, is how is getting there in the first place?
Wash and then to avoid in the future use a stunningly simple invention called toilet paper.
keep washing your hands with soap :) or.. might as well pour some perfume onto your hands and rub in onto your hands evenly?
wash your hands with soap an sugar together. the sugar acts as an abraisive and will clean them really well.
Cut them off and wash your hands for ten minutes straight with warm water and soap, weirdo.
easy just cut your fingernails off.
Stop wiping your bum with your hands!!!!

Does Clear Finger Nail Polish Prevent Cracks In Car Window From Spreading?
Driving home today, I got caught behind an 18 wheeler. As I tried to pull away from in back of it a rock hit my window and caused two tiny chips to appear instantly. One looks like a small starfish while the other is the size of a 1/4 inch crack. If I go to a window shop I know they're going to tell me it's already too late but I heard that nail polish might extend the life of my window, which I just got replace about a year ago for the very same reason. Does anyone know if this is true. If not, is there anything else I can use?Does Clear Finger Nail Polish Prevent Cracks In Car Window From Spreading?
I've never known that to work worth a rip. Many glass repair shops can do a fix without replacing the glass. They inject a resin mixture and the spots practically disappear. I'd go that route before I applied any goop to my glass.Does Clear Finger Nail Polish Prevent Cracks In Car Window From Spreading?
You need to have resin injected into the blemish . It will usually take care of the problem without glass replacement,However there will be a small pick where the injection is done.
You could also use super glue.origins facebook.com

You could also use super glue.

You just made my trotters curl up, just by reading your question!
A fork going across a china plate, just thinking of it makes me shiver!!!
Arrrgh...when you are eating dinner and the fork scrapes across the plate making that shrill noise, I cant bear it!
Polystyrene really makes me cringe :\
*shudders*
people sniffing when they have a cold. i know they cant help it but the noise makes me cringe alot.
ughh.
all those make me cringe.
esp. rubbing Styrofoam together.
and when people chew with their mouth open and you can actually hear the saliva.
it's really nasty.
i dont know why.
but i will sure like to know.
Don't know but squeaking polystyrene is another.

How often should u clip your finger nails?
Once ever two weeksHow often should u clip your finger nails?
once they start to grow back, and you dont like how they look, or when other people start to call them claws. Or whenever anything nasty gets in them you cant get out. I do every two weeks, so they dont get to long and a bother. How often should u clip your finger nails?
I clip them when they start to go past my finger, my nails should be horizontal, or less to the tip of my finger, or else they hurt my fingers :(
Whenever they grow to a length you don't like. I probably cut mine once or twice a week, because I hate when they're not short.
( if you where fingernail polish) then if its white and if its grown farther then the polish line
Qwark clips them everyday so they can fit his superhero gloves.
whenever they look like they should be clipped, or whenever they're bothering you
i grow mine out and manicure them and paint them all cute...every once in a while i file them but the ones on my toes i cut as soon as i see white.
Whenever they become annoying, iritating, or hazardous.
I like my nails really short,So I clip then more then I should .Like every other day.
whenever i can scratch someones eyes out with them :D

i always go get my nails done and get acrylic nails so they clip them for me like every 2 weeks
every week in your hand and every two weeks in your feet.
Every other week.
Before they start curling over.
I do mines every week because they grow so fast.
about once every 1-3 months
i like my nails really short so like whenever i notice they're a little long
every 3 days
until you have no fingernails
when my nails start breaking i have very long nails
when they are long enough to slightly be scratchy cut them
never
lets hope you do it every week. or you could bite them. yuck
when they get long.. hahah.
i cut mine once a week, they grow fast
every day wut kind of question is that u dirty pig
when it starts to hurt when you pick your nose
When they get too long?
Once a week, maybe?

What does orange finger nails mean?
I have been wearing a lot of pink and red nail polish, could that discolour my nails? Could it be anything to do with being anemic too because I've been anemic for about 2 years, but I've only recently noticed this? What does orange finger nails mean?
your nails can be discolored because of one of 2 things ...
some of the pigment from the nail polish may be absorbed by the nail from constant wear and chemicals ...
or
the constant chemicals of you are painting and removing the paint frequently could be changing the color checmically ...
try going a week or 2 without any polish and see if they clear up any ...What does orange finger nails mean?
have you been eating carrots?
it could just be your previous nail polishes, you should wear a clear basecote
you peeled too many oranges

he should go to the emergency room, my boss had chemo and her nails weaken but never like what your boss nails sound like, in the emergency room they should give him some sort of treatment to control the pain and refer him to a specialist other than his primary doctor, which obviously isn't doing his job

I pricked my finger on a rusty nail should I get a tetnus shot? Have not had one since I was little.?
Yes don't be a baby. Go get the tetanus shot It really doesn't hurt.I pricked my finger on a rusty nail should I get a tetnus shot? Have not had one since I was little.?
Ahhhh yeah, definately. If you went to the dr, they would do that for sure. My husband had one go through his work boot once and they gave him one. Besides, why wouldn't you want to be safe than sorry, right?I pricked my finger on a rusty nail should I get a tetnus shot? Have not had one since I was little.?
If you have not had one in the last 10 years, I wold recommend one.
You need one every 10 years. If it's been longer than that, go get one. Better safe than sorry.
YES i would do it ASAP get updated on your shots too, its just a little needle and it makes you feel safer, but effects of the rusty nail could come up in no time
yes and within 24 hours
Tetnus can only settle into the wound if the prick acted as a puncture wound. Cut the wound and let it bleed for a bit and then, yes, go to the ER because tetnus can still have gotten into the blood stream before opening the wound. You should have a booster every 3 years for tetnus.
Yes, you need one every ten years. If you are not sure if it has been ten years, I don't think it will hurt you if it hasn't.
By all means. Lockjaw is nothing to fool around with. Look up the symptoms in a medical book, such as ';Merck medical encyclopedia, Home edition';.
yes or maybe you will get an infection i heard that some times people have parts of the body amputated for that
You need a Tetnus shot every 5 years for them to be effective. If it was a serious cut, yes I would go to the ER and get a tetnus shot.
Yes, definitely!
You should get a tetanus shot AT LEAST once every 10 years.
In my opinion, I would say ';yes'; to getting a Tetnus Shot.
My motto is: ';Better Safe, Than Sorry';
Good Luck. Have a lovely rest of the evening.
Due to the dangers of infection, and other illnesses for pricking your finger on a rusty, I would advise getting a teatnus shot immediately.
a nail, an old rusty nail.....
Definitley. Wise decision.
I don't know exactly how long that's been, but you should get a tetanus booster shot every ten years. If you've pricked your finger on a rusty nail then you do need to go get a tetanus shot.
Yes. Go for it.
Tetnus only enters the boold stream if the nail caused a puncture wound. Yes, go to the ER and get a shoot.And...you need one every so often.
I would get a tetnus shot since you never know. Once you've had the shot, I think you're good for 10 years and then you'll have to get another one. It's a good idea to keep up with your shots especially if you travel. You never know what the medical systems are like in other countries.
well, i guess you will have to ask the doctor or nurse better.. than on getting answers here because there are some people that doesn't give right answers to your questions... hehehe.. LoL!!

Whats the dealo with grils and painting their finger nails.?
i dont notice that type of stuff. they want to bring all the attention to their nails.what they want me to notice them but why???????????Whats the dealo with grils and painting their finger nails.?
Why do boys always act like idiots when trying to impress a girl? Ha, we're even.Whats the dealo with grils and painting their finger nails.?
Because good nails are a sign of good health and are therefore sexy
Maybe because they like the way it looks. No offense, but not everything we do is for guys!
its something to do
I always feel like it makes my hands look pretty. When I paint my nails I want people to notice! We think it's sexy!
because some guys actually notice. and girls do too. and it can look really cute if it matches your outfit!
manicures are based more on the overall appearance and hygiene of ';grils'; and less to do with guys.
Even though you guys don't notice, once you are out on the prowl for ';the one'; you take into account nice nails and overall cleanliness. A manicure goes to show that women care about things like that.
So, i hope that kind of gave you an understanding about girls and their ';nail painting';
because underneath they are dirty haha
well really it makes it seems like you put effort in which a lot of guys notice and hey we like doing it
Because we are women.. women just do it because it looks nice
They don't necessarily want you to notice, but it is something that makes a girl feel that she is well groomed, and cares for her appearance overall, right down to the small details.origins facebook.com

Why Do Colored Girls All Seem To Have EXTRA Long Finger Nails?
Because they are naggers? Why Do Colored Girls All Seem To Have EXTRA Long Finger Nails?
They are almost always fake!!! (Nails)Why Do Colored Girls All Seem To Have EXTRA Long Finger Nails?
Not all colored girls have extra long finger nails. I'm colored and I have the shortest nails ever that absolutely refuse to grow. Although I'd like long nails, I'd like a sensible length not the ones that are long enough to spear someone and kill them. Perhaps the ones you've seen have those loooooooong nails and this influenced your thinking. Anyways, this is just to let you know. The colored girls I've seen with those type of nails are the ones in those Nigerian movies... and some of them don't look really good with them so I guess it all depends on the woman whether she's white, black, etc.
probobly just fake for most of the girls.... im not ';colored'; and i have vary long nails that are natural
My bf's sisters are black (as is my boyfriend), but his sisters don't have those vampire nails. Some girls just get those because they're too blind to realize how ridiculous they look!

Can some one please tell me how to shape your finger nails and the tools to use?
i go with the above answerCan some one please tell me how to shape your finger nails and the tools to use?
the only tools you need are nail clippers and a nail file. the file isn't really necessary, but it might help. If you want to square off your nails, which i would suggest, then cut off the tips of your nails in a straight line. If the corners are rough, then file them slightly. I do it all the time, so i know that this works.

Are there any ';natural'; ways to make my finger/toe nails grow faster?
Hair and nails are made of dead protein material. So upping your intake of proteins will help both your nails and hair grow faster.
Try eating more fish and chicken for the protein. A good steak helps, also. Yogurt is high in protein and and calcium and helps the good flora in your intestines. Fresh spinach salads with honey-mustard dressing and real bacon bits does a lot for nails and hair. Spinach contains absorb-able calcium, bacon bits - more protein.
Massaging the nail cuticles with almond or grape seed oil helps increase the circulation around the nails and helps with growth of the nail. Don't forget behind the nail, too, it helps the nail to grow a little more evenly
Stay away from foods containing trans-fats as they slow down digestion and elimination. Your hair and nails grow because the body is eliminating the excess protein from your body.
Don't dry out your nails by using nail polish remover (real bad news) and use rubber gloves for the dishes and cleaning around the house. Protecting what is already there is important.
You can try prenatal vitamins, but you wanted ';natural'; ways. Vitamins are natural, it's just they are more concentrated than eating all that food. Just read the labels, though. Some of those ';vitamins'; are synthetic.
Good luck hope this all helps. Are there any ';natural'; ways to make my finger/toe nails grow faster?

What is thes best method I can use to stop biting my finger nails.?
chew gum. some stress management. What is thes best method I can use to stop biting my finger nails.?
its some kind of psychological so better think of something gross that you do with your hands so that you will have second thoghts before you take another bite of your finger nails. What is thes best method I can use to stop biting my finger nails.?
Put vaseline on your nails,
Maybe to get fake nails put on, but that damages your real nails. Try using hot pepper or cheyenne powder under your nails, or on top of your nails, I guess you can mix it with handlotion or vaseline, so that it will stay on your nails, without something making it stick to your nails, it will fall off.
Or you can just tell yourself, that you want beautiful nails, and that you are going to let them grow. And reward yourself, in stages, for not biting your nails. And in the end you will be proud of yourself, and maybe you will get compliments from people, after you have your nails manicured and maybe have some fancy nail polish put on your nails!!!
deal with your stress
It's due to stress...that's why most people's nails grow during holidays.
I had this problem and I recommend taking immaculate care of them..putting in valuable time. Then every time you go to take a bit you'll remember how much work you put into them.
