Everybody's finger nails grow faster than toe nails unless they are born with a defect.Do finger nails grow faster than toe nails?
Yup, it's because the circulation is better in the fingers than in the feet. The fingernails, then, get more nutrients to grow and grow a bit faster (I think fingernails grow an inch and a half a year, on average, while toenails grow only about a half an inch to an inch per year. Something like that.)
my finger nails seam to grow a lot faster than my toe nails. i don't no if they do tend to always grow faster than toe nails, but mine do.

Ok, basically i was walking my dog and i picked up a stick to throw for him but it had alot of nails and what i think were staples i didn't realise untill i chucked it because it was dark and my finger started to hurt so i glanced at it and it was bleeding so i went home washed it and put antiseptic on it should it be ok?Nail or staple through finger?

i think you should be fine. i would keep it clean and dressed and see how it goes.

since i have to normally cope with my mother-in-law , so i always try to keep my nail long to terrorise her. though it help very rarely , but still neccessary for me.i always bite my mother-in-law nails. lol

Nail pushed into finger...?
I recently knocked my pinky finger into a desk. I didn't think much of it when it happened, but the day after I noticed the nail was slightly pushed back into the finger and there's a little bump at the end, right before the cuticle... And the nail hasn't been growing at all. It's been like this for a few days, and only hurts if I knock it against something hard. Is there any danger in this and will the nail eventually grow back out normally? Is there anything I can do to help it?

your nail will probably go black and then fall off if the nail bed has been damaged. Just wrap it up and keep it protected so you dont cause anymore harm.
Make sure you dont have any open skin tho otherwise it might become infected.

How do i get off excess nail polish on my fingers without taking it off my nails?

First, take fingernail clippers and gently scrape and clip away the excess polish. Be careful and don't cut yourself. This works really well, though. My other trick is in the shower, when it's all steamy and hot, the excess polish scrapes off very easily with your fingernail.How do i get off excess nail polish on my fingers without taking it off my nails?
Get a q-tip BEFORE you put on the nail polish or anything.
Then take off most of its fuzz, but leave a good enough amount on.
Pour a little bit of the polish remover into the cap %26amp; leave the qtip in there.
When u need it, get it and go around the nails.
Also hold it in the middle, because the fuzz makes a dent in your nails.
Thats the cheap way,
you can always buy a ';nail corrector'; pen at your local drugstore or whatever.
Very carefully using a q-tip with nail polish remover.
Maybe you can ask someone to take it off for you because a different hand is likely to be more steady than your own. I do not paint my own nails because of that. My hands cannot get steady enough.

Take a lil paintbrush dip it in nail polish remover, then paint it off. Make sure to wash your hands when done, if you eat pizza, trust me it does not taste good, boy does nail polish remover taste horrible.
you take a tooth pick and swirl it around in a cotton ball, then dip it in nail polish remover and it works really good. small unlike a qtip so you dont take it off your nails. mom used to work at a nail salon and did it all the time

dip a qtip in polish remover a gently wipe off the excess polish

Just break open about 4 capsules, massage into nail and cuticle and put in a pair of latex gloves for about 20-30 min. just wash hands with soap and water, the smell does wash away.... hope you have as much luck with this as I have had

But serioously, eat more food with iron, almost anything green will do. Helps to strenghten nails and make them grow faster.

I always use cotton balls and tissue with stong acetate nail polish remover. If that doesn't get it all off, use a q-tip and try again with the remover. If it still sticks, use an orangewood stick and push your cuticles down, and soak your nails in a small amount of remover. Then rinse your fingers with cold water and dry off. But when i tried this 'medicine', it worked perfect. And btw, i suggest u stop from now, cuz 1 time when i was in the park, i discovered a had a small pus-filled small boil which hurts and itches so much@! then my aunt(a doctor) had to heat up a nail and get it in the small boil and all the disgusting yellow pus came out! If you are eating anything that involves hands the taste gets on your food and its just gross. i've tried a couple different things, but if you put it on afte ryou ate or something im sure it would be fine.. i just didnt have good luck with that polish shtuuffff at all. :-P

Surgery on a finger for a nail?
alright, this is kind of hard to explain but here it goes.
When me friend was little she stuff her finger in an electric outet. At the time they didnt do much about the finger but now there is only a tiny bit of nail on the finger and it happened awhile ago. She wants to know if there are any options of getting surgery on it to make the real nail grow again or even better, to get a fake nail surgically there.
%26amp; today we went to the doctor and the doctor had said that there arent much options cuz the nail probably wont grow and you cant put a fake nail on. Does anyone know anything that could helpp, on this topic?

my boyfriends finger is swollen around the cuticle area on his nail.
it started to swell up , and then it burst, with loads of pus coming out.
he doesnt remember hurting it or cutting it.. after it burst it swelled up, and is now still swollen but not as bad... it hs left a tiny area of see throu-ish skin just above the cuticle like a hole where the infection was.. went to doctor but had to wait four hours! so left..... will book appointment next time.Swollen / infected Finger tip, around nail !! wat should i do?
Clean the area well with soap and water. Inspect it closely looking for a red line emanating from the wound. It is a precaution to take to ensure he did not get blood poisoning. After cleaning the area well, pat dry and then put some triple antibiotic ointment (if it hurts him get the one with lidocaine) on the affected area. I would leave it uncovered while awake and then cover with a band aid before going to bed to afford the wound some protection. In the morning repeat the cleaning process, reapply the ointment, and leave uncovered if possible as it will heal quicker. Given the description you provided the worst should be over. He'll want to keep an eye out for blood poisoning. I cut my finger years back when tending bar, there was a broken glass in the water I was washing glasses in and about a day and a half later I noticed a nasty looking red line coming from the cut and going up my hand to the wrist. I play field hockey, and yesterday in my scrimmage my right pinkie got jammed in between two sticks. At first, it just stung really bad. But gradually, underneath my entire nail has become black. The other side of my finger is purple, and there are red dots near the top. The nail itself is completely intact.

I am a trained health and skin care therapist and have some really good advice. A buffer is an excellent way of removing the colour. It is a four sided, rectangular shaped object that you will find in most stores. Using the slighty coarse side, gently buff the toenails (ontop) from side to side watching as the colour fades away. Be carefull not to over-buff, for this will make the toenails thin and they will start to split. Should the colour not completely disappear, use a good base coat (Jessica's) with a light french pink colour ontop to give the toenail time to grow out before you buff again.My finger nails and toe nails are yellow with years of putting varnish on them with no base coat?

I have suggested to her that she should learn some instant relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or light stretching. When you notice you are anxious about something - try not to obsess about it but rather centre your mind and try to be logical.
If you find you are chewing the skin around your nails - stop and try to understand why you are feeling tense. Then you need to close your eyes and in hale deeply and exhale smoothly. To a little stretching, even if you work at a desk job, you can extend your legs and feet and just rotate your ankles. Do the same with your arms.
If you don't feel comfortable doing deep breathing and light stretching in front of other people. Just take yourself somewhere private for 5 minutes and calm yourself down.
I know it can be frustrating to be doing what you do - but I do feel you could tackle it with relaxation.
You may also have feelings of low self-worth or resentment. Talking to someone who can understand would be helpful with that kind of tension in your mind. These habits are external manifestations of bigger problems sometimes. But you can do anything you put your mind to - why not?

French would look much more elegant. The red will be too much contrast between the white (or ivory) of your dress and will stick out ';like a sore thumb'; . Sorry no pun intended. if you're having a trendier wedding, i would go with maybe a dark maroon or something that is really in style... dark navy blue is really trendy right now too! just make sure it goes with the theme of your wedding.
depends how long your nails are. if they're short you can paint them red, really bright or really dark color look best of short nails. if you have long nails get a french manicure, that will look the best as well! good luck with whatever you choose, either way will look pretty though!
French would look much more elegant. The red will be too much contrast between the white (or ivory) of your dress and will stick out ';like a sore thumb'; . Sorry no pun intended. Couldn't resist though. Seriously I do think the French will look so much more elegant on you than the red. Red is nice for going out on the town but not so much for getting married.

Get some hot pepper sauce/juice and soak the ends of your fingers in them. There are some bitters you could probably spray on them and see if that helps. Pick a taste/sensation you don't like.

I had a horrible problem doing this as a teenager. I do not know if this will work for you but this is what worked for me. I saw a woman on the bus and she did the same thing to her fingers. She was standing and I was sitting behind her, therefore I could really stare at her hands and notice how awful/horrible/disgusting it really looks. After that, I stopped. I shuddered at the thought of my hands looking that way! But the truth was that they did! I just had to see how detestable it looked on someone else and that made it easy for me to stop. Whenever I did get the urge, I carried a small bottle of lotion in my bag and would put it on. No matter where I was or what I was doing in that instance. I stopped, pulled out the lotion and rubbed a lot all over my hands. Then sometimes I would chew a piece of gum, put my hands in my pocket or sit on my hands. Just until I was able to break the habit. Now I no longer have the problem and my hands look healthy. Maybe you can have someone take a picture of your hands and you can carry it with you to keep looking at what you do not want your hands to look like. I still carry the image in my head of what that woman's hands looked like. SHUDDER!!
well if you want to stop try to wear a very thin glove at night. and fing another habit like chewing gum or biting on a pencil that will surely keep your finger from looking repulsive or try to put tape on it. you could even put lotion on it so when you bite it it will taste gross. I think you should think about what your doing when you do it so you can stop. Because you can't just go cold turkey, you have to slowly stop doing it.
You can put socks in your hands(when you are in your home,my brother did that) and in the school you can put the hand washer that doesn't need water , and you will NEVER bite your finger again(It tastes really bad,experience,many times)...

At this point, if you don't remove the fake nails, you will damage your nails forever. Take the acryllics off and leave them off for about 3 months. In the mean time find a really good nail salon--(you have to pay a little more for the good stuff) and continue to get regular manicures --no acryllics--once week or once every two weeks.
You need to let your natural nails heal.

First I would remove those nails or at least soak your nails in perxiode. Check when your getting your nails done that the nail implements are clean!! Call your nail tech.
I agree with Lady Bug. Get those nails off pronto! See a doctor if need be to take care of the mold.
If you insist on having (fake nails), make sure the place is spotless before using them. Never return to where you were/are going to.
I used to have my nails done every couple of weeks (I used gel), and I never had that problem. I stopped because my nails were getting weak. I prefer them short and strong. It also saves money.

Well the best way is to set yourself a goal and reward system I think, because you can buy the stuff with the nasty taste designed to stop nail-biting, but people get used to the taste if they're that addicted. Maybe try chewing gum everytime you want to do it, and keeping some blue-tack to peel and roll? Reward yourself with something you like at the end of wach day/week you've managed not to do it.

You've gotten moisture trapped under your nails. You should really take them off and give them a chance to air out. Otherwise you run the risk of loosing your real nails :-( Your nail tech can be as sterile as she can but once they lift, it can occasionally happen, that you can get moisture trapped under there. You can find an OTC anti fungal liquid that will help keep it at bay as it is growing out. If it seems to be getting worse, definitely see a Dr.
I worked as a nail tech for 10 yrs and have seen lots of green come in the salon. Let it grow out before putting them back on again.

When you apply them, you need to make sure that your hands: nails, fingers, etc; are very clean. You also need to make sure that the acrylic nails and any insturments used to apply them are clean too, and that you allow them to dry fully before washing your hands or doing any activities.
It also doesn't hurt to lay off the fake nails for a while. If you wear them too often the chemicals from the glue can eat away at your natural nails, weakening them.
You should get those taken off right away, there likely was moisture under your nails when you got your fill. Please see a different nail technician as the other possibility is that the instruments your tech used were not sterile. Seriously this could affect your health have them taken off. Make sure the next person you see is licensed in the state you live in.

A friend of mine has got to see a lung specialist, but before, she had to fill in a form for the hospital and it had a question in it that asked her about whether her nails are claw-like or straight. I always thought it was just a hear say but when I saw the question in the NHS questionnaire I was stunned.

Why can't you wear dark nail polish on the index fingers when getting your wisdom teeth pulled?
I am getting my wisdom teeth pulled and the dentist gave me a pre-operative instructions list.
