Why can't you wear dark nail polish on the index fingers when getting your wisdom teeth pulled?

I am getting my wisdom teeth pulled and the dentist gave me a pre-operative instructions list. On the list one of the lines states that you should ';avoid dark nail polish on both index fingers.'; Why is this?Why can't you wear dark nail polish on the index fingers when getting your wisdom teeth pulled?
they press the nails to see how quickly it goes from pink to white to check your oxygen. If you were to have surgery on a limb they would tell you to take it off your toes. Its to insure your safety.Why can't you wear dark nail polish on the index fingers when getting your wisdom teeth pulled?
That is because if they put you to sleep for the procedure, they will put an small sensor on your index finger to monitor your oxygen level. Those sensors don't always read very well through dark nail polish.
in case they need to check how well you're perfusing oxygen. honestly, it doesn't make a difference what color you wear because there are more modern ways to check. when in doubt, ask your surgeon.
They need to see the color of your nail beds and make sure your getting enough Oxygen.
