Why do my finger nails keep splitting?

my fingernails are splitting olong the top edgeand has ridges long the faceWhy do my finger nails keep splitting?
Always moisturize your hands after washing, and try to avoid hash soaps.

Use plenty of cuticle oil daily and you should really notice an improvement. The best nail and cuticle oil will contain Jojoba oil and Vitamin E as two of the main ingredients.

Nail polish contains solvent that allow it to dry and give nails it's inherrant 'shine' and toughness. These same solvents can be very drying to nails, and can actually contribute to the problem.

Also avoid having your hands in water for long periods of time (so use gloves when doing the dishes).

I've also heard very nice things about Nailtique, so you should also benefit from that too.

If you can get past the strong garlic odor, it's definitely worth using garlic oil... you could get from the Vitamin World store... It comes in a capsule form, like Vitamin E does, so the capsule has to be broken... I use it about 3 times a week. Just break open about 4 capsules, massage into nail and cuticle and put in a pair of latex gloves for about 20-30 min. just wash hands with soap and water, the smell does wash away.... hope you have as much luck with this as I have had

Good LuckWhy do my finger nails keep splitting?

But serioously, eat more food with iron, almost anything green will do. Helps to strenghten nails and make them grow faster.

You may have a deficiency in something that your body needs, or you may be ill. Nails and hair are the first to go when you are ill. Check with a doctor.
It depends how old you are. You should have a professionally manicured every week or every other week and you'll see the differences. Plus daily product won't hurt you. Good luck!
