The actual polish isn't harmful (it doesn't get in your system), the only potential concern could be the fumes from the polish and the polish remover. I think they do sell polish with lower fumes though.

its not bad for the fetus, but if anything were to go wrong, u would have to take it off or they would take it off in the doctors office in order to monitor your oxygen level.

Painting your nails - whether pregnant or not - *can* be harmful to you (if you use polish a lot) because many nail polishes contain formaldehyde. Use a formaldehyde-free polish (look at the ingredients label) and you should be fine.
