can anyone tell me how to get them to go back to normal? My finger nails and toe nails are yellow with years of putting varnish on them with no base coat?
I am a trained health and skin care therapist and have some really good advice. A buffer is an excellent way of removing the colour. It is a four sided, rectangular shaped object that you will find in most stores. Using the slighty coarse side, gently buff the toenails (ontop) from side to side watching as the colour fades away. Be carefull not to over-buff, for this will make the toenails thin and they will start to split. Should the colour not completely disappear, use a good base coat (Jessica's) with a light french pink colour ontop to give the toenail time to grow out before you buff again. My finger nails and toe nails are yellow with years of putting varnish on them with no base coat?
bleach
good luck
R u sure? b/c nail fungus is going around u have to wait until it grows back and if it grows yellow then go to doctor so they can prescribe medication! If not then then should wait until it re-grows.
umm. the only thing I can think of is to stop wearing nail polish for a while, scrub the tops of your nails with a nail brush and wait til they grow out. they should go back to the normal color. hope this works! (worked for me...)
Let the nails completely grow out. If still yellow then it is common fungus. See doctor. It's treatable. As for staining from polish, there are products to treat that. Ask a cosmetician at a drug store. Can't think of product name at the moment.
try buffing with one of those square spongy buffer things , like they use at the salons. otherwise , start getting pedicures and it will eventually grow out. the buffer should work though.
try adding a capful of hydrogen peroxide to the bleach. be very careful and use only capful. put fingertips in solution and leave there for 5 minutes. Should be gone, at least it was for me.
You have to just stop applying nail polish and let the nails grow out the healthy color or if you want to wear polish put on a non-yellowing base coat first!! It is very important. Base coats are important because they keep your nails from turning yellow and help keep the polish on longer. Buy a nail strengthen treatment which will help your nails grow faster, a great one is Nail Tex hydration therapy, which is sold at professional salons but I've heard the sally hanson one works great as well. If all fails, go to a salon and ask to speak to the nail tech. who might have some ideas.
