He feels NOT A GOOD CONDITION. So he feels anxiety. Be the atmosphere is enjoy for him. Make sure he is in happy or good mood. Why is it that my 2 year old son likes to bite his finger nails?
Is there someone (like yourself) that has the same habit, that he has seen doing that? Is your child anxious, nervous about anything? Going to daycare, having a bigger kid there to pick on him? Parents fighting?
Please, sit down and have a talk with your child. Check with the daycare (if he goes to one) or babysitter. Also, notice if anyone he knows has that habit as well.
If need be, please feel free to ask his pediatrician about this matter.
Take care. Why is it that my 2 year old son likes to bite his finger nails?
It is a nervious habit. Something is making him anxious.
It's either just a bad habit, or psychological (as if he's bored or upset) - But you sound like a good mother to be so concerned.
I would just try and stop it if I were you, so many bacteria fester under the nails. I stopped biting my nails by putting on that Nail Bitter that tastes really bad - it wont harm him don't worry. Apply a tiny bit on the ends of his fingers that everyday for a few weeks or so until he forgets he ever bit them and then just stop. If you don't sort it now it could become a life long problem!! Good luck xxx
well my 3 year old bro kept on biting on his nails until it became very crooked and he even ate some parts of the finger skin
There are several things that 'might' be going on. It is a habit; however, it may be caused by nervousness, boredom, hunger, stress. Your pediatrician and/or ped dentist should be seen. Biting will transfer germs to the mouth and could cause enamel erosion.
Good luck to you and your son.
Its just a habit, but a dirty one, kids (and adults) have so many germs under their nails. Try to break him of this habit. Good luck, that wont be easy.
he's an oral child. focus less on the behavior and you will see improvement.
